Green Sawn | Furniture Design

The idea for Green Sawn came to owner, Aaron Pahmier, on trip through France. The artisan baker, turned furniture maker likes things of the old world. After moving to Chicago from a 2004 stint in Eugene, Oregon, Pahmier first tried his hand at baking before putting his skills as a carpenter and woodworker to use. Pahmier comes from an Indiana family of tradesmen; carpentry is in his blood. Looking to expand his scope, create movable and interactive objects with a story to tell, Pahmier set to work designing a collection of sustainable furniture. Green Sawn furniture uses the limitations of a material for the purpose of design. Old framing lumber is converted into benches, high school bleacher seats become dining room tables and all wood is sourced locally. Green Sawn designs are intended to showcase the life cycle of wood and bring forth furniture with a story to tell.
